Where the Girls Are - Moscow on the Beach

One might think that seeing two teams of delicious barefoot beauties in swimwear playing beach volleyball in the middle of Moscow was some kind of mirage. But for two years running, and in extravagant style, Moscow has imported 2,500 tons of sand to welcome the world’s finest beach volleyball teams to compete in Moscow’s Grand Slam, a major event in the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) World Tour.

Russians love playing indoor volleyball and alongside basketball, it’s amongst the most popular sports taught to girls at school spawning over 300 professional Russian teams. And in the great Russian sporting tradition, the Russian women’s national volleyball team has proudly won a hatful of Olympic and World Championship gold and silver medals.

The 7-day Moscow Grand Slam, one of the world’s highest ranking volleyball tournaments, attracted over 50,000 spectators to a sun-drenched arena at Victory Park who had the chance to admire the luscious talent on display.

On court there was an amazing torrent of feminine energy, a flurry of sand and attractive limbs, and some fine-looking but determined women. In true Russian style, there was a boisterous party atmosphere, a vivacious opening routine and plenty of interesting sideshows.

So if you want to know where the girls are in Moscow, just take a stroll of the arena grounds at this or any major sporting event Moscow has to offer where you’ll not help but notice the scores of stunning, athletic Russian femmes on hand.
