Hot Past Words - Marina Orlova

By Rollo Tomasi
You can catch Marina Orlova, a striking specimen of Post-Soviet splendor, strolling down the Boardwalk in Venice, California as easily as spotting any number of her equally magnificent compatriots strutting their stuff any day of the week near Red Square in Moscow.
You can catch Marina Orlova, a striking specimen of Post-Soviet splendor, strolling down the Boardwalk in Venice, California as easily as spotting any number of her equally magnificent compatriots strutting their stuff any day of the week near Red Square in Moscow.
Originally from Nizhy Novgorod about 200 miles east of Moscow, Maria now calls Los Angeles home and in 2007 became a YouTube darling since the launch of her phenomenally successful channel HotForWords. Marina is the #1 most viewed on YouTube as she takes requests from viewers, and over 200,000 of her own subscribers, for words to discuss in her own playful, provocative way in the 5-7 videos she herself produces each week.

Marina is the self proclaimed vocabulary guru to thousands of enthusiastic male pupils across the web who learn the meaning of English words while watching the svelte Russian vixen’s every seductive move.

With over 200 million video views so far and counting, Marina is this month’s choice for Anastasia Today’s favorite philologist, English teacher, entrepreneur, author, internet superstar and Russian sex bomb.

The majority of Russian women are highly educated and speak several languages. Like them, Marina holds several degrees and specializes in teaching and English. Orlova graduated from the State University of Nizhny Novgorod with two degrees (Teaching of Russian Language and World Literature Specializing in Philology and Teaching of English Language Specializing in Philology) before teaching high school English in Moscow for 2 years.

After moving to the States to further her education, in 2004 Marina was assigned to teach an autistic boy under an Au Pair program. During this time Marina worked to perfect her English and deliberate her next career move. Once exposed to YouTube in 2006, she quickly experienced an epiphany: “Here is how I can teach not just 20 students like back in Russia, but rather thousands of students all over the world.” Blonde locks flow over mesmerizing sometimes pale blue, sometimes sea green eyes as her lush mouth invites legions of half hypnotized men to higher learning. Marina takes on the origins and etymology of words from the absurd to the almost indefinable…

Marina was inspired. Armed with dangerous good looks and a high powered linguistics education Marina burst onto the scene in 2007 with her debut on YouTube and a website that traces the origins of English words in a style that incorporates both higher education and sexually flirtatious antics as teaching techniques.

Blonde locks flow over mesmerizing sometimes pale blue, sometimes sea green eyes as her lush mouth invites legions of half hypnotized men to higher learning. Marina takes on the origins and etymology of words from the absurd to the almost indefinable… from Swine Flu, to floccinaucinihilipilification (the longest non-technical word in English), and metrosexual, as well as idioms “let the cat out of the bag”, “dressed to the nines” and “three sheets to the wind”.

Marina is simply captivating and impossible to ignore as she exploits her intellectual and animal energy scantily clad and supporting her motto “Intelligence is Sexy”. Her eyes are magnetic and her lips a force of delicious nature.

Marina also hosts a bi-weekly radio show on Maxim Radio on Sirius Satellite Radio. Her cerebral and sensual performances have been profiled by Cosmopolitan, The New York Times Magazine and numerous other publications. She has appeared on a number of television shows including Fox’s The O’Reilly Factor and recently signed an endorsement deal with coComment together with radio personality Danny Bonaduce. Recently Orlova was declared “Sexiest Philologist in the world” by New Yorker Magazine and voted the World’s #1 Sexiest Geek by Wired Magazine.

Marina has made herself and the study of words pay off big time with no end in sight. She has just finished writing her first book due out this August 2009 by Harper Collins, appropriately entitled Hot For Words and is hard at work on a game show concept for television.

She unquestionably gives men what they want…watch and learn. Find out more at www.hotforwords.com or Marina's YouTube page.
