Russian Lady’s Soccer Team Play in Bikinis

Is this the real life? Is it just fantasy? No, it’s just more solid proof of the ability of Russian women to combine sporting creativity, business acumen and hot stuff. A fabulous story emerged recently from Krasnoarmeysk (near Moscow) of dedicated beauties willing to do anything for their sport.

In a masterful stroke of PR, Russian woman’s football club WFC Rossiyanka decided to play their next match wearing bikinis. Or at least they decided to tantalize their male fans with a tactically astute photo shoot....

The tasty team has got three Russian Premier League titles to their name and has even played in the women's version of the Champions League. But they decided something extra was needed to increase gate receipts and fan support. And although they came in for some criticism for their unorthodox methods it’s clear  that they got everyone's attention.

Nowadays every club needs a strong supporter base to survive. It was also important for the club do their bit with Russia having just secured the 2018 FIFA World Cup and the UEFA European Football Championship taking place in the Ukraine next year. Soccer is set to have an increasing presence in Eastern Europe over the coming years. And women’s soccer is no exception, especially in Russia where there are many talented female athletes and big fans of the beautiful game. As the website of WFC Rossiyanka states (www.fc-ross.ru/en/), ‘the Time of Female Football has Come!’

Team coach Tatyana Egorova spoke of her new tactic, “We think it's a good idea -- our players are beautiful, great athletes and determined to win.”

Such talented dribbling is sure to have any men watching dribbling into their half-time pirok…
